city and beach in one.
Palma is the only place on Mallorca where you walk through a medieval old town in the morning, lie on the beach in the afternoon and sit in a star-rated restaurant at night. The La Seu cathedral towers over the marina, the Santa Catalina district is a foodie heaven, and Portixol is a former fishing village turned the hippest seafront of the island.
Palma is the smartest base on the island: 15 minutes from PMI airport, no rental car needed in the city itself (everything walkable or by taxi), and a direct bus to Playa de Palma when you fancy a beach-resort day. City break or city-with-beach · both work.
month by month.
Palma is a 12-month city · summers for city-plus-beach, winters an ideal city break without the heat.
our tip: unlike the beach resorts, Palma stays open all year. November-March the city is 15-18° by day · ideal for the cathedral, museums and tapas without the summer heat. For city and beach: May and September · warm enough to swim, prices below the summer peak.

palma questions.
Can I reach a beach in Palma without a car?
Yes · the Cala Major city beach is 15 min by bus. Playa de Palma (6 km of beach) takes 20 min on bus line 25 from Plaça d'Espanya. The city itself has no wide sandy beach · you hop on the bus for that. Many hotels in Portixol do sit right on a small city beach.
Which district is best for a first time in Palma?
Casco Antiguo (old town) · everything is walkable, the cathedral and tapas bars around the corner, and it instantly feels like "the real Palma". For foodies: Santa Catalina. For sea + calm: Portixol. Avoid Paseo Marítimo if you sleep early (nightlife).
Is Palma expensive compared to the rest of Mallorca?
Slightly · city hotels in the centre start around €68-112, higher than an all-in resort in Cala Millor. But you save on the transfer (15 min instead of 65) and get city + culture + beach combined. On a budget: look at Paseo Marítimo or just outside the centre.
How do I get from PMI airport to my hotel in Palma?
Bus A1 runs to the centre every 15 min (€5, 20 min). A taxi costs €20-25 (15 min, fixed rates). Or book a transfer in advance · we arrange it as part of your package. For Son Vida (hills) a taxi/car is recommended.
Is Palma good for a winter city break?
Definitely · November-March Palma is 15-18° by day, ideal for walking, museums (Es Baluard), the cathedral and tapas without the summer heat and crowds. Many beach hotels on the island close then, but Palma's city hotels stay open all year. Swimming is out, sightseeing all the better.
