Hotel Auberge "Corps de Garde" has graced the centre of the town of Groningen since 1991. Besides being housed in one of the oldest monuments in the north of the country, the Auberge mainly stands out by a combination of informal hospitality and guaranteed quality.

This characteristic building on a canal was built in 1634 to house town guards. Recesses for the bronze canons in several rooms still remind one of the days when soldiers guarded the entrance gate to the old town. During the past centuries the "Kortegaard', as the local population call the building, had a wide variety of uses; from a fraternity house to a graphics museum.
