EMBASSY Hotel Balatonas is located in the place of a former spa resort with bathing places, recreation areas and mineral waters, and baths that were operating in the middle of the XIX century. History of the building dates back to the year 1900, when, after long negotiations, it was decided that Žvėrynas shall be within the limits of the then Vilnius city. At that time, former hunting areas of the Radvilos family and other noblemen were step-by-step turning into a prestigious residential block.

Historical sources claim that in 1932 the land plot with a two-storey residential house and an adjacent office was owned by Mr. Ilja Baltev, who has inherited the property of his grandfather, a former trustee of the tsar Nikolai II. The block, quiet yet adjacent to the city centre, has always been a convenient place for villas of high officers, and later – for establishment of diplomatic embassies. That had an influence on the name of the hotel EMBASSY Hotel Balatonas, which is surrounded by nine embassies.
