The recently restored four-star hotel makes up part of the ancient Medici Farm or Fattoria Medicea and is located near the famous thermal caves of Monsummano Terme. The Grand Duke Ferdinand I, nephew of Lorenzo de' Medici ("The Magnificent"), ordered the Villa di Montevettolini built by design and under the supervision of the architect Giovanni Mechini starting in 1597. In 1615 the construction and maintenance of the various farm holdings began including the properties of the Fattoria Medicea, which later came into ownership of the Borghese Princes, the current owners.
