Hotel Del Campo

The Hotel del Campo of Matera was developed from an ancient gentleman’s estate dating from the end of the 18th century. It was used by the sen. Domenico Ridola family throughout the hottest days of the summer in order to guard their vast agricultural property during the age in which the confines of the city of Matera were still concentrated around the historic medieval center and the Rioni Sassi.
The aristocratic villa, that still boasts a superb 18th century garden comprised of native materials, incorporated the typical defense elements (embrasures and vertical shafts) of a brigand refuge, much like many of the numerous fortified large farms positioned throughout the Matera area.
This hotel is located in Matera and has been created from an aristocratic establishment of the 18th century.
The hotel has been renovated keeping its original structure where restaurant room and the old garden are now located combined with a new side which hosts the rooms, the hall, the reception and the coffee bar.
Number of rooms: 35
