Originating in Spain, it lives as a hermit around Doors.

Its tomb with Saint Savin (the High Pyrenees) will make this locality a credit centers religious during all Middle Ages. Saint-Savin has lived a few centuries earlier. According to the authors, between 5th and IXème century; many uncertainties still remain on the precise date. What is certain, it is that it was one of the first Christians to have évangélisé valley of Lavedan, after a passage to the monastery of Ligugé.




Doors in 1858 was only one small village of some hundreds of inhabitants.

According to its wish, on the same spot, (known as "Sanctuaries") were built vaults and basilicas, around the Cave of its miraculous source, the fountains and swimming pools where thousands are accomodated of patients. Because, with Lourdes, 64 "miracles" (or unexplainable cures) were recognized by the medical and religious authorities.
